Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) informed: By Allah! Neither my father (Abu Talib a.s.) ever worshipped idols nor my grandfather – Abdul Muttalib (a.s.) or my great grandfather – Hashim or Abde Manaf. He (a.s.) was asked – what did they worship? He (a.s.) said – They used to worship facing the House (Kaaba) and were firmly on the religion of Ibrahim (a.s.).
