The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) informed Ali (a.s.) I swear that there are three things that are just: you and the Trustees after you are the ones who teach the way to get to know God. No one can get to know God unless he goes he gets to know you. You are the ones to teach the way to Paradise. No one can get to go to Paradise unless he gets to know you and you get to know them. You are the passage to Hell for the residents of Hell. No one would go to Hell unless he denies you and you deny him.
