The opponents of Shias raise doubts about the Shiite belief with vis-à-vis Imamat.
They argue that if Imamat is such an important affair, then why is it not mentioned in the Holy Quran? Why are the Ahle Bait (a.s.) or the Imams (a.s.) not named in the Holy Quran so that the Muslims could take guidance?
Reply
Allah’s practice is to takes names only infrequently
Our foremost reply to the skeptics who insist that the names of the Ahle Bait (a.s.) / Imams (a.s.) should have been mentioned in the Holy Quran is – it is a rarity for Allah the Almighty to take names.
After all, how many names have been mentioned in the Holy Quran in totality?
Let alone their successors, even all the Prophets (a.s.) themselves have not been named in the Holy Quran. Allah has pointed this out twice – in the verses of Surah Nisa (4): Verse164) and Surah Ghaafir (40): Verse 78.
Among all women, only one, Maryam bint Imran (s.a.) has been named.
From all Muslims, only one, Zaid Ibn Haarith, Holy Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) adopted son has been named.
Of all infidels and bloodthirsty enemies of the Noble Prophet (s.a.w.a.), only one, Abu Lahab (l.a.) has been named.
Does that mean that the others did not exist or were not worth naming?
Strangely, the Muslims who demand that Ahle Bait (a.s.) / Imams (a.s.) should have been named in the Holy Quran, think nothing of misinterpreting Quranic verses to glorify the companions and wives.
Where does the Noble Quran name the one who wept in the cave? Yet these Muslims identify him as the first pseudo-caliph even though this is by no means a virtue, but that is another matter.
Where does the Majestic Quran name the wife whose chastity has been guaranteed by Allah in Surah Noor (24)? Yet the Muslims identify her as the daughter of the first pseudo-caliph?
So the skeptics have different rules and yardsticks for the Ahle Bait (a.s.) and their followers and altogether different criteria for the companions and wives.
