The opponents of Shias reject the Imamat of the infallible Imams (a.s.) on the excuse that had they been the chiefs of the nation as the Shias claim, then why haven’t they been named in the Holy Quran so that the Muslims could take guidance?

Lessons from the past nations
Skeptics who raise questions about the identity of the Holy Prophet’s successor (s.a.w.a.) must refer to the Sunnah of Allah with reference to the past nations.
Has Allah identified a successor for Moosa (a.s.) and Esa (a.s.)?
All Muslims are unanimous that Allah has identified a successor for the past Prophets (a.s.) like Isa (a.s.) and Moosa (a.s.).
So why then hasn’t He identified a successor for the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) because there is never a deviation in Allah’s Sunnah (Surah Ahzaab (33): Verse 62)?
Going by His Sunnah it is reasonable, if not necessary, to expect that Allah has likewise appointed a successor for the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), either by directly naming him in the Majestic Quran or identifying him through His Messenger (s.a.w.a.).
The Sunnah clearly identifies Ameerul Momineen Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) along with his infallible sons (a.s.) as the successors of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). There are many reports to this effect in the books of both sects.
In fact, going by the assertion of the Muslims that Allah has identified a successor for the past nations but did not identify one for the Muslim nation suggests that the past nations were superior to the Muslim nation as Allah was more concerned about maintaining the divine chain of command in those nations and took steps to ensure its continuity. As for the Muslim nation, although the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) is superior to the past prophets and his nation is superior to the past nations and is prophesied to continue till the end, Allah did not take steps to identify a successor to the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and maintain a divine chain of command!
Can any sane and just person take such a line of reasoning seriously?
But the skeptics believe so.
And in this way, have wittingly or unwittingly shown Islam as an inferior religion. They have rejected the innumerable arguments in favour of the Ahle Bait (a.s.) and have denied their virtues on one pretext or the other. But at least they should not prevent others, who have accepted the reports, from following the correctly identified, true successors of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and by this acknowledge Islam as a truly superior religion.
