Imam Ali b. Husain (a.s.), Chief of the Worshippers said (while describing the martyrs of Islam):
“there is no day like the day of Husain. He was surrounded by 30,000 men, who considered themselves as Muslims. Each one of them sought divine proximity by shedding Husains blood. And by Allah, Husain, reminded them (of his position) and exhorted them (towards goodness and righteousness) until they killed him with tyranny and oppression owing to their enmity.”
Then he (a.s.) continued: “May Allah have mercy on Abbas. He sacrificed himself over his brother, until his arms were severed. Allah replaced his severed hands with a pair of wings, with which he soars in Paradise along with the angels just like (his uncle) Jafar b. Abi Talib.”
